An arc welding inverter («ماكينة لحام إنفرتر») is sized by amperage, and amperage follows the electrode you run. Choose the electrode for the steel thickness you weld most, and the machine follows.

The rated amperage is the maximum; a machine working near its maximum all day heats up and trips. Buy one step above what you need if the work is continuous.

Inverter vs old transformer welders
- Inverters weigh a fraction — the 180 A unit goes in a car boot.
- Stable arc and easy strike with hot-start and anti-stick, which matters most for the occasional welder.
- Lower power draw per amp of welding current — important on sites running from a generator.
Do not forget the mask
A standard welding mask is SAR 39; an auto-darkening mask is SAR 139 and pays for itself the first week by letting you position the electrode with the visor down. Both are on the safety page.
In Saudi heat
Give the machine shade and airflow; an inverter in direct sun at 45 °C reaches thermal cut-out much sooner. Keep electrodes dry — damp rods make a porous weld, and humidity in Jeddah and Dammam is enough to spoil an opened pack in days.
